ANNARITA TRAVAGLINO is a PhD student in Science and Engineering for the Environment and Sustainability at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” in Italy. She holds a Master’s degree in Sciences and Technologies for the Environment and Sustainability from the same institution. Her research focuses on thermochemical conversion processes, including biomass and waste gasification as well as hydrothermal carbonization. Her doctoral work explores syngas production from sewage sludge gasification, investigating the influence of operating conditions on process performance, gas composition, and by-product formation to develop sustainable pathways for energy recovery and waste valorization.
She is currently a Visiting Researcher Scholar at the University of Zaragoza’s Energy and CO2 Research Group within the Bioxsteel project. During her stay, she will contribute to modeling and experimental tasks aimed at replacing fossil fuels with biochars in steel mill blast furnaces, including lab-scale tests and techno-economic assessments.
Main research interests: thermochemical conversion, biomass/waste gasification, hydrothermal carbonization, hydrogen production, tar conversion, sustainable energy recovery, biochar applications.
