ECO2Lab Researcher Awarded Prestigious "la Caixa" Fellowship for Master’s Studies at TU Berlin

Jorge Legaz Ruiz, a Mechanical Engineering graduate and researcher at the Aragon Institute for Engineering Research (I3A), has been awarded a prestigious postgraduate fellowship by the “la Caixa” Foundation under their highly competitive “Postgraduate fellowships abroad” program (2025 Call).

Legaz began his research career within the Energy and CO2 (ECO2) research group at I3A, where his work under the supervision of Manuel Bailera on industrial decarbonization and energy sustainability earned him recognition in national innovation competitions.

Thanks to the support of the “la Caixa” Foundation, Legaz will take his research further, joining the Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) for the Winter Semester. Over the next two years, he will pursue an M.Sc. in Process Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering, focusing on the technical and environmental systems crucial for the global energy transition.

His journey from the University of Zaragoza to TU Berlin is a great reflection of the training and research in decarbonization happening at the I3A. The entire ECO2Lab team wishes him the best of luck in this next chapter!
