Manuel Bailera, RyC researcher at ECO2Lab (Universidad de Zaragoza), participated in the TrANsMIT Workshop hosted at the University of Zagreb / Sveučilište u Zagrebu, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture. He was warmly welcomed by Hrvoje Mikulčić.
The workshop began with an introduction to the COST Action TrANsMIT by Action Chair Anna Skorek-Osikowska, followed by a series of insightful presentations on cutting-edge carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technologies.
- Robert Mikulandrić (Atlas Copco, Belgium) provided a comprehensive overview of carbon capture technologies and their techno-economic analysis, comparing biological, chemical, and physical approaches.
- Niko Heikkinen (VTT, Finland) presented on carbon utilization pathways, evaluating production costs of polyether polyols, olefins, and methanol considering energy and CO₂ prices.
- Davor Blažek (NEXE Group, Croatia) shared progress on the CO2NTESSA project, which focuses on CO₂ capture, transport, and storage in the cement industry.
- Jiwon Gu (UNIST, Korea) concluded with a detailed presentation on the liquefaction of CO₂, optimizing the process through techno-economic assessment and multi-criteria analysis.
The event offered a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration on innovative decarbonization strategies for energy-intensive industries.
