Members of the Energy and CO2 group attended on the 17-18 Sept the final conference of the COST Action TrANsMIT in Warsaw, marking the successful conclusion of an impactful international research network focused on advanced carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) value chains.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks and a retrospective on the project’s journey presented by Action Chair Prof. Dr. Anna Skorek-Osikowska and Co-Chair Prof. Dr. Mijndert Van der Spek, who highlighted the action’s primary objectives and key milestones. The first day featured insightful keynote presentations by Asst. Prof. Paweł Gładysz (CCUS Poland Association) on the future of European CCUS systems, Dr. Patryk Suchodolski (Heidelberg Materials) on practical industrial CCUS deployment in the Polish cement sector, and Prof. Dr. Raúl Muñoz Torre (Universidad de Valladolid) on biological CO2 capture and utilization. Working Group leaders, early-career researchers, and grant recipients presented their final-year achievements and short-term scientific research results through interactive sessions.
A Pillar for ECO2Lab’s International Growth
Involvement in the TrANsMIT network has proven invaluable for ECO2Lab. Thanks to the support and funding provided by the Action, team members completed impactful Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) at prestigious institutions, including Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon, the Silesian University of Technology (SUT) in Gliwice, and Heriot-Watt University (HW) in Edinburgh.
Beyond research stays, the framework facilitated ECO2Lab’s participation in multiple international conferences, catalyzed the preparation and submission of several competitive European project proposals, and opened exciting new avenues for interdisciplinary collaboration.
