The President of the Government of Aragón, Jorge Azcón, visited the School of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Zaragoza this week to learn about the work of the MotoStudent Unizar team. He was accompanied by Rector Rosa Bolea and Councillor for Employment, Science and Universities, Claudia Pérez.
The MotoStudent Unizar team, led by Paco Moreno, member of ECO2Lab, is preparing to compete in the 8th edition of the international MotoStudent competition, held this month at MotorLand Aragón. This challenge brings together universities from around the world to design, build, and race prototype motorcycles, putting into practice their knowledge in engineering, management, logistics, and teamwork.
For this edition, the team has developed two competition motorcycles: a gasoline bike weighing 80 kg, capable of reaching 200 km/h and completing nine laps, and an electric bike weighing 140 kg, with enough autonomy for seven laps at 200 km/h. Students have designed and manufactured between 75% and 80% of the components, while also managing sponsorships and project communication.
President Azcón praised MotoStudent Unizar as “a clear example of innovation and knowledge transfer from the University, where students turn theory into practice and build a real motorcycle.”
The MotoStudent competition, created in Aragón in 2009, brings together over 80 university teams from 19 countries in its 2025 edition, showcasing young engineering talent at the highest level of international motorsport.
