EVA LLERA is a Full Professor in the Thermal Machines and Engines area at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). With a research career spanning over 25 years, she has participated in more than 25 competitive research projects funded by public programs.
Her main scientific contributions focus on two key areas. The first is The socioeconomics of energy and sustainability, where she has worked within multidisciplinary teams, providing a technical perspective on energy systems and technologies under evaluation. The second is Energy sustainability in industrial sectors and activities, with research in energy-intensive fields such as building construction, aluminum production, and, more recently, transportation.
Her latest work focuses on the development of synthetic natural gas as a sustainable alternative for road transportation, integrating the use of renewable energy and CO₂ capture technologies within the framework of the circular economy.
Throughout her career, she has led and participated in numerous R&D projects, securing over €500,000 in funding through competitive programs. She has been the principal investigator in four regional and national projects, as well as two European projects co-financed by the European Commission.
In the field of scientific dissemination, Dr. Llera has published 45 articles in international journals indexed in the JCR, 33 of which are highly relevant, and 15 are in the first decile. According to Scopus, her publications have received over 1,600 citations, achieving an h-index of 21. Additionally, she has participated as a speaker in more than 40 international conferences over the past decade and has been a member of three scientific committees and one organizing committee.
She has supervised five doctoral theses, all awarded the distinction of “cum laude,” and is currently supervising another. Academically, she has coordinated two European inter-university master’s programs at the University of Zaragoza: the European Master in Renewable Energy (2009–2012) and the Specialization in Sustainable Energy Management (2015–2017).
Dr. Llera has also contributed to five European projects focused on training and coaching public and private stakeholders in sustainable energy. Additionally, she has collaborated as a leader or team member in four projects with Spanish private organizations, aimed at transferring research results to practical applications.
Committed to continuous education, she regularly participates in postgraduate and professional training programs specializing in energy management, environmental analysis, circular economy, and sustainable transportation.
