Coinciding with the events celebrating 11F – International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Ateneo of the School of Engineering and Architecture (EINA) and the SAMCA Chair for Technological Development of Aragón hosted Isabel Guedea, director and founder of ENDEF, president of Solartys, and treasurer of the Aragón Energy Cluster. Her career has made her a leading figure in the field of distributed solar energy and self-consumption, especially in Aragón, where she actively works on creating energy communities and local energy management. “In a sector where for a long time women have not been visible,” she said at the opening of her talk.
Technological innovation, sustainability, and community were the three main themes of her lecture. Isabel Guedea shared her experience in the development of distributed solar generation in Aragón over the last 10 years. She discussed the current possibilities for managing our own energy, the beginnings and expansion of self-consumption in the region, and the process of forming the first energy communities in Aragón.
Isabel Guedea was accompanied at the Ateneo by Pilar Lisbona Martín, Associate Professor at the University of Zaragoza and researcher at the I3A in the Energy and CO2 (ECO2Lab) group. Pilar introduced the speaker, highlighting her journey, starting with her time at EINA, where she completed her PhD in renewable energies, then as an entrepreneur, and now as the director of ENDEF, president of Solartys, and treasurer of the Aragón Energy Cluster. Her professional journey has earned her numerous awards and recognition for her company, which she founded in 2012, and for being a role model as a female entrepreneur.
